DBA as Protector of the Data: Notes from the Field

Presented by: Denise McInerney, DBA at Intuit   

The DBA can be the last line of defense guarding the integrity of their company’s data. Taking this responsibility seriously will make you more successful in your job.

In this session, Denise will discuss how the DBA can proactively ensure that the data in their transactional system is clean and correct. She'll take a comprehensive view of this crucial aspect of the DBA’s job, drawing on many real-life examples.

You'll learn about an integrated approach to data protection. Denise will also describe how pessimism and vigilance can be valuable traits for a DBA.

Denise McInerney has twelve years experience as a SQL Server DBA. Denise's focus is design and performance tuning OLTP databases that support web-based applications. Denise is an MCDBA and an MCTS in SQL Server 2005.
